Apart from some minor changes I added WordPress 3.0 features like custom menus and custom background.

Custom Menus

You can now manage your deGusto menu by dragging and dropping your preferred menu items in the order you like with the new WordPress 3.0 custom menus feature.

Custom Background

Optionally you can change the look and feel of the theme by adding your custom background image trough the WordPress admin panel.

In the deGusto Help Center you will find useful information to get started with the theme. You will find several screencasts:

The theme is finally running the new ThemeShift options panel. Also the image handling has been improved.

Image Gallery

Besides the new ThemeShift admin panel (see image below) the most important improvement of this version 0.9.8 is the post image gallery. You can create a post or page gallery by (batch)uploading image using the WordPress media uploader, enter a comma-separated list of image media IDs in a custom field called media or use the old-fashioned custom fields called gallery with image URLs.

If you’re interested in this feature, go and get the latest version.

The post thumbnail feature is backwards compatible. That means that existing images that you added through the post settings box in older versions of deGusto won’t be lost and will still be displayed as hitherto.

Please notice! The new post thumbnail feature resizes images during the upload of an image. So if you want to add an image to a post that was uploaded before you had installed deGusto 0.9.7, I recommend to use the old-fashioned way (custom field named image_value).

Through the theme options page you can choose the red, blue or green button style.

Button Styles

I just added 3 different buttons styles to deGusto. The buttons that will be affected are the read more buttons, the sidebar toggle buttons, the comment reply buttons and the send comment buttons.

Theme Options

Choose your preferred button style on the theme options page and change it whenever you want. Monday blue, Wednesday green and Saturday red.

The newest version of deGusto is far better than previous ones. In addition to some layout and code improvements I added the following features. Check them out!

Button Color
You can now choose your preferred color for the buttons through the theme options page. Choose between red, blue and green.

Background Image
I decided to use a bigger background image. deGusto now looks a lot nicer on wider screens.

Dropdown Menu
Some of the deGusto users asked for a dropdown menu. Here you are! I added a neat Superfish dropdown menu for categories and pages.

Menu Control
Apart from the dropdown menu I also added more options to control the menu items. You can hide the home link and exclude any category or page item.

Slider Control
I also decided to give the user more control over the featured content slider on the home page. Besides the options to choose the category and item number you can now decide to enable auto slide and how many seconds you want the slider to pause.

Social Networks
Due to another user request I added more social network icons to the footer. You can now add links for RSS, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, LastFM, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Digg, Mister Wong or Technorati.
