Back in November last year we launched our new support center with a step-by-step user guide, useful code snippets ready to be pasted in your functions.php, tutorials and of course the support forums.

Front Page

To make access to the theme documentation as easy as possible on the front page of the support center you will find a powerful keyword search. Optionally you can limit the search to a specific section (like user guide or code snippets) or a single forum. In the left sidebar you’ll find the option to browse the docs by theme and direct links to the entire user guide. Everything at a glance.

Today I’d like to give a warm welcome to Walter Barcelos who joined the ThemeShift team in August. As a computer engineer he is specialized in mobile development and has created complex web applications for many years.

Walter is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but has been living in Málaga, Spain for over 16 years now. Thanks to our (future) wives we met to go out, watch football (unfortunately he’s a Real Madrid fan, but well…) and have a good time at the beach until we actually realized that we understand each other talking about nerd stuff.

That was just the time when I was looking for somebody to help me out with ThemeShift and Walter was searching ways to improve his work situation. We decided to join forces and here we are.

Due to Walter’s numerous skills especially in the field of mobile development you’ll see some great improvements coming to ThemeShift themes and our new real estate WordPress theme framework wpCasa. Apart from being a code warrior he’ll also help me out in the support forums and assist users customizing their themes.

I’m really looking forward to working with Walter and creating funky stuff for the WordPress world.
Bem-vindo a ThemeShift!

WordPress 3.4.2

Last Thursday September 6 the maintenance and security release WordPress 3.4.2 was announced . Here are the most important fixes from the list of bugs :

Fix some issues with older browsers in the administration area.

Fix an issue where a theme may not preview correctly, or its screenshot may not be displayed.

Improve plugin compatibility with the visual editor.

Address pagination problems with some category permalink structures.

Avoid errors with both oEmbed providers and trackbacks.

Prevent improperly sized header images from being uploaded.

Apart from that a few security issues that affected WordPress multisite installs have been fixed.

Hotfix 0.9

Unfortunately one important bug made it into this version. After updating to 3.4.2 it was not possible to update or create custom fields (see ticket here ). If you have already updated but need to work with custom fields, you can install the Hotfix plugin version 0.9 in order to fix this rather annoying bug.

Like in the past we supported the official WordCamp Germany we’re happy to announce that ThemeShift also is official premium sponsor of the WordPress event WPCamp Berlin 2012.

The organizers decided to call the event WPCamp because of the requirements that go along with calling your event WordCamp. In their FAQ [German] they explain why they decided what they decided. If you’re interested in why a WordPress event might not be called WordCamp, you should have a look at this interesting discussion especially in the comments section.

From my point of view these guys just want to have a great time talking WordPress and meeting other WordPress enthusiasts. That’s it. By all means I find that worthy of being supported. Hat tip!

I’m a big fan of Gravityforms and use it myself in many projects. So before I released FrameShift I decided to add built-in Gravityforms support to it and make sure that in all our future themes the plugin forms match the theme design.

Support means here that themes include necessary CSS styles to make the forms look good out of the box. However, these styles will not overwrite any plugin CSS, just adapt them slightly to match the theme’s layout.

This support will be added to all future ThemeShift themes. At the moment our latest themes dePosito, deFacto and deCorum include the necessary styles.

Good news everyone! I already mentioned to some of you deCorum users that we were developing an importer for deCorum to make switching over to the wpCasa real estate theme framework as easy as possible. This importer plugin will adapt deCorum property data and taxonomies to the wpCasa database structure.

The use of the importer is straight forward. You download and install the plugin with the active deCorum theme on your WordPress install and run the importer. As there are a few things to keep in mind, I wrote up a little step-by-step tutorial to wipe out your doubts. There you’ll find the plugin too.
